FLACITOS ZOE CATRINA (1994-2005)

Once I had decided that this was the breed for me I looked around for some bloodlines to complement those I had in Ann. I met a lovely lady in Theresa Pritchard at the Adelaide Royal Show in 1993 who had a entered stunning dog Wondoan Wicked Winston and a little pied bitch Ch. Rhodeholme Cassata Mia and approached her to buy a puppy from the pair. I bought a nice fawn and white boy that she named Flacitos Major Riley and my friend from Nunjee Kennels purchased Flacitos Zoe Catrina. We intended to show the pair and to this end I titled Riley quite quickly. Shortly after Zoe Catrina was placed out as Nunjee Kennels was on the move and I eventually placed Riley with Wondoan kennels in Queensland. His most notable babies came from a breeding to Tunamara Swift Elegance. Zoe went with me to the Adelaide Royal in 1996 and took out the Best of Breed award but she never liked the attention and preferred to stay at home so I mated her to a black dog that I had here for a short time and produced her first litter, she was a born mother and was never happier than when playing with her babies. This litter was a sign of things to come as there were three pretty girls and a boy in the litter. Tunamara Chyna Blu and Tunamara Satin Mist were both retained with Misty going to junior handler Melanie Ferenc. The Boy Tunamara Wild Silver went to Nunjee kennels. Tunamara Chyna Blue hated the showring so had one litter for me from which I retained a daughter in Tunamara Willow Pattern. Her sister Tunamara Moody Blues went to Wondoan kennels and produced for them and is now retired at Rhodeholme kennels in Victoria. Chyna is in a loving pet home with some good friends.

   TUNAMARA SATIN MIST (1997-2002)
Misty was shown throughout her brilliant career by then junior handler Melanie Ferenc. She achieved just one litter at the end of her show season and produced a lovely little dog that we called Tunamara Scout Around. sadly she met with a car accident well before her time. Her son Scout went on to produce a lovely dog for Tuscamada kennels in Grand Ch. Tuscamada. Trend Setter. This was a very successful dog that showed for Kaasha kennels in Darwin and WA. Kaasha used Trendy over their Zoe great grandaughter and created a line that has produced among others Champion Kaasha Tempting Fate, Champion Kaasha Fancy Free and my lovely show bitch Champion Tanden Viktoria. Tempting Fate has produced a lovely little dog in Champion Tunamara Micah who is showing successfully today. Scout also gave us Tuscamada Misty Morn and when mated back to his grandmother Zoe for his last litter and they created just one bitch puppy Tunamara Catrina Mia who is now living in a pet home after producing a lovely little boy called Igmajik Touch N Go from a ceaserian whelping. Scout passed away in 2007 after a fall (he was a gate climber). I am expecting the first litter from Touch N Go in August 08.

TUNAMARA WILD SILVER
Silver went to Nunjee kennels as a puppy and was used in their breeding program. When the kennels folded most of the dogs were inherited by Maybri kennels owned by Deborah, their daughter but Silver went into a pet home. His son however, Nunjee Heza Silver survives and we have his outstanding blue and white grandson Maybri Silver Frost in our stud team today. When bred to a nice blue Eltazzi bred dog that I had for a while Zoe produced Champion Nunjee Tukis Sand, a fawn dog of very correct size and shape. Sandy has made his own niche in the Italian Greyhound world by producing my wonderful Champion Tunamara Brady (see Brady's own page) as well as promising dogs for Maybri kennels including Maybri Snow Dancer, a bitch of note being the mother of our beautiful "Maybri Silver Frost" and  other lovely Maybri babies.

TUNAMARA WILLOW PATTERN (1998-2008)
Chyna's daughter Willow spent her whole life with me and went on to create her own family. Her daughter Tunamara Karita is currently living at Igmajik kennels and is their premier brood bitch. I have retained Igmajik Krystal Myst from Karita. I also have promising youngster Champion Tunamara Faiance from Willow's very last litter by Maybri Silver Frost, she is showing very successfully. Willow's son Champion Tunamara Aston Martin is not only a successful show dog but a successful stud also. I have his daughter Lamarque Belle Amour here and Lamarque kennels have retained L. Premier Amour for their show team. We hope to continue the Willow line here with these youngsters as sadly she passed away from a cancerous growth earlier this year.

One other dog of note from the Zoe family is her son by Champion Tunamara Hey Jude, Niaru Serpico who when bred to my Tunamara Fern Gully produced the J litter, Jaymi, Jacob and Jessi (see Anns page). Serpico left me with Tunamara Eclipse who is the sire of Tunamara Thunderheart who is in my current pedigrees and Thunder also produced a lovely litter for Tuscamada kennels with them retaining Champion Tuscamada Justa Tease and Champion Tuscamada Just a Touch who is the sire of my lovely red and white girl Tunamara Shanaia out of Zoe daughter Tunamara Willow Pattern. Serpico now lives at Rhodeholme kennels and appears in many pedigrees around the country.

As can be seen from this short piece, Zoe was a phenominal influence on not only mine but other breeding programs around the country. Her offspring were consistently typy with strong hound head types and straight fronts. They had bone and powerful movement and wonderful temperaments. Zoe herself loved nothing better than a cuddle and a crawl space in our beds. She developed a growth and lost her balance and was sadly euthanased at 11 yeas of age. We loved her dearly and miss her still.
