LEADERSHIP DEVELOPMENT
In Association with Capra & bluepoint

UP-COMING Workshops
Please join us at an up-coming public course

Effective leadership is the most critical soft skill needed to enhance productivity and competitiveness.

Capra offers the following leadership development workshops in association with Bluepoint Leadership Development and Capra:

“The Leadership Experience” is a research-based, experiential workshop that represents the next generation of management training initiatives. The workshop is uniquely designed to equip managers with the capabilities required to create alignment, energy, and effectiveness in today’s organizations. Rakesh Khurana, assistant professor at the Harvard Business School said in a 2003 Chief Executive magazine study, “What really matters are systems that develop and perpetuate talent. We’re focusing on the systems that build people.”

“The Leader’s Voice” is a workshop on leadership communication based on a new book of the same name by Boyd Clarke and Ron Crossland. The premise of the book is that leaders can communicate more effectively if they speak in facts, emotions and symbols. The workshop focuses on communication principles rather than skills.

“The Leadership Challenge” deals with developing individual team leader project skills.
The Leadership Challenge® Workshop, developed by Jim Kouzes and Barry Posner and offered by Bluepoint Leadership Development, is the gold standard for leadership development training and offers a stellar track record in practice. The Leadership Challenge® Work shop reveal s how leaders get extraordinary things done in their organizations. This point of view grew from more than 20 years of research by Kouzes and Posner on the real-world leadership practices of more than 250,000 leaders. This research revealed The Five Practices of Exemplary Leadership®, and The Leadership Challenge® Workshop delves deeply into these practices: Model the Way - find your voice by clarifying your personal values and aligning actions with shared values. Inspire a Shared Vision - envision the future and enlist others by appealing to shared aspirations. Challenge the Process - take risks and seek innovative ways to change, grow, and improve by generating small wins and learning from mistakes.

This workshop is about High Performance Coaching in the Workplace.
Typically, coaches ask probing, sometimes difficult questions to help the Talent see their current situation, personal performance and career potential through fresh eyes. They challenge the Talent to test their personal assumptions, perspectives and beliefs. They introduce the Talent to alternate views of their current situation and their performance. They brainstorm with the Talent to create multiple positive future scenarios that will best utilize the Talent’s natural gifts and talents. They encourage the Talent to make choices that are healthy and personally empowering, and that will lead to significant organization success. They assist the Talent to craft meaningful personal development (action) plans. They help the Talent clarify and affirm their commitment to these plans. They challenge the Talent to take immediate action. They hold the talent accountable for the commitments they make (or assist them establish alternate accountability relationships). They honour the Talent for the difficult work they have done, they choices they have made and the commitments they will honour.

This workshop is about creating sustainable environments to foster innovation.
Leading innovation is not just about thinking outside of the box, or tapping creativity. This program is about creating environments where innovation is nurtured. Participants will learn the Innovation Fundamentals that will create a culture of innovation.

From time to time, we offer various leadership development courses to the public such as those listed below.

  • Leading Innovation

    The Leadership Experience
is the result of 20 years of experience in the leadership arena from the executives of Bluepoint Leadership Development: Ron Crossland, Gregg Thompson and Boyd Clarke. While the earlier program, “The Leadership Challenge”, deals with developing individual team leader project skills, this new workshop looks at leadership from an organizational point of view and helps participants look at how they can contribute as leaders on a daily basis to the overall vision, goals and objectives of the organization.
In this program Managers learn to look at their own leadership styles, and to understand the meaning of what it takes to become an “Authentic Leader.” The program also takes them through the three labours of leadership: Navigation, Architecture and Community. More detail on this can be found in the attached file. The key program goals are: 1. Evaluate and consider personal leadership motivations 2. Inspire constituents to believe in and take action toward the mission 3. Apply innovation skills to organizational issues 4. Develop higher levels of engagement with their constituents 5. Focus on what is right with the organization and use this perception to renew purpose 6. Understand their personal leadership strengths and weaknesses 7. Appreciate how their leadership strengths fit in different environments 8. Re-examine their leadership in light of their personality, motivation and current performance 9. Develop operational plans 10. Gain a broad perspective on the key elements of organizational leadership.
Typical innovation learning programs expose corporate managers to methods of tapping creativity, expanding lateral thinking, and thinking outside the box strategies.
Leading Innovation has a different set of goals in mind. We feel the key competency required for innovation is not individual creativity alone, but helping managers gain greater ability in creating sustainable innovative environments. This is a leadership task. In order to succeed at this task, leaders must develop innovative abilities and develop them in their constituents. We call these Innovation Fundamentals. They must also be able to create and sustain a Culture of Innovation by using these fundamental to maintain key organizational dynamics.
