A Nursery School for 3 1/2 to 6 year olds using Waldorf principles.

The Acacia Tree Nursery School is a New Intiative Waldorf Nursery School that started in January 2009. It is based on Flowerdew Farm near the Schafli road and is open 5 mornings a week from 8am to 12pm. 

The Acacia Tree Nursery School has come into being through the vision of the Muller family who has been extensively involved with Waldorf education and has a love for the way that this type of education nurtures the child and creates a safe haven for childhood.

Thomas Muller is a Waldorf teacher with a Class teacher training and a training in Bothmer pedagogy (movement education of children). He worked at the Wynstones Waldorf School in the UK for 6 years as Games Teacher and specialised in Spacial Dynamics Therapy.www.spacialdynamics.co.za. He will be working as the Lead Teacher in the Nursery School from 2011 - mentored by Barbara Muller. He is better known in East London as Tom the clown from Tom's Circus and Games.

Barbara Muller is a Waldorf teacher with 30 years of teaching experience - First as a nursery school teacher and then as a Class teacher at Michael Mount Waldorf school in Johannesburg. She has now retired to the Eastern Cape and will be the mentor and support teacher at the nursery school. For a fuller CV see the About us section

Madeleine Muller is a General Practitioner who specialized in Homeopathy and Anthroposophical Medicine (the Medical stream related to Waldorf education) and she worked as School doctor at Wynstones Waldorf School in the UK. In South Africa she has worked as School Doctor at Roseway Waldorf School in Durban. She has completed the Early Years Waldorf training and runs the Parent and Toddler group on a Friday afternoon. She is the chairperson of the council of management, administrator of the school, interested parent and works in HIV medicine.

Vuliswa Xanti has been at the Acacia Tree Nursery School for 2 years now and has been receiving an in-service training as an assistant teacher. She has great enthusiasm for her role as teacher and brings a lovely variety of xhosa songs and stories to the classroom. She is currently also attending the ITECH Early Childhood Development Training.
