A CALL TO WORSHIP

Common Courtesies

Please practice common courtesies when using your flags, tabrets, and praise hoops. We should feel free to take our liberty when using them. But we need to keep in mind that it is not a free-for-all where we come down and knock each other out with our flags, or slap each other in the face with our tabrets and praise hoops.

Remember, too, that this is not a competition. Don't get caught up in comparing yourself to others. It is for God's eyes; we are expressing our love and affection to our "Dear Daddy". He sees us as beautiful and graceful.

Now let's look at a few courtesies

  • Be aware of people who are around you. In some areas the worship space may be small. If someone else is already there, please leave them room to use their flag or tabret. If you tend to get wild and need lots of room try to find a spot where you will have the liberty to move around.

  • Be respectful of other peoples' flags and tabrets. Just because they have laid them out, do not assume they are for your use. Please ask before using them, and ask in a way that lets them say no, if they choose to, without feeling guilty. Praise hoops, tabrets, and flags can be costly and very time consuming to make. We need to remember that, and handle them accordingly.

  • Store and care for your flags, tabrets, and praise hoops properly. Why invest your time and money to make them, and then not take proper care of them? Flags are best stored by rolling them up, and placing them inside a cloth bag or cardboard tube. The streamers on tabrets and praise hoops are particularly susceptible to creases and wrinkles. Store them in bags or on hangers to prevent general wear and tear, and to keep them from being badly damaged.

  • Parents need to teach their children to respect other peoples' property including the flags, tabrets, and praise hoops. As noted before they can be costly and time consuming to make. It would be very sad to have other peoples' instruments of praise and worship damaged because of a childs carelessness. On the other hand, please teach your children concerning the significance of them, and also how and when to use them. Many children are also called to use these items and should be encouraged to do so. Just be sure to teach them proper courtesies when using them.
