LINCOLN MUSIC TEACHERS ASSOCIATION PRESENTS
“A Musical Menagerie” - LMTA Extravaganza 2008

Twenty-three piano and four string teachers from the Lincoln Music Teachers Association (LMTA) presented 200 students in their major event of the year on Sunday, January 13, 2008 at 3:00 p.m. in the O’Donnell Auditorium, Nebraska Wesleyan University. Del Whitman, Lincoln East High School Music Department Chair and string teacher at Lincoln East High School and at Lux Middle School, conducted. Joan Reist, Professor Emeritus of the School of Music, University of Nebraska-Lincoln, and Past President of LMTA and Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) provided an educational commentary.
Twelve separate groups of students and teachers played duets simultaneously on digital keyboards. Seventeen string students participated in addition to Nissa Evenson’s Spitfire Band. Each group wore a different colored t-shirt bearing a logo designed by Lincoln High School senior, Audrey Koch. A power point program, prepared by Claire Baddeley, was shown during the performance.
The Extravaganza Committee consisted of: Marcia Wiebers, Chair, Donna Baddeley, Lois Burger, Aleta Collier, Susie Cook, Marian Eschliman, Nissa Evenson, Judy Farmer, Debra Heald, Charlotte Heermann, Heather Hoops, Jane Jossi, Mary Keelan, Wanda Mandigo, Cindy Matz, Deanna McClintick, Jo Riecker-Karl, Nancy Schoen, Nanette Taylor and Cherise Matz.
