Have you checked and rechecked your priorities? (is God in the first place in your life?) . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . How much would you be willing to rearrange your life to accommodate the divine plan? At this time in your life, what do you need in order to trust in God's plan for you? -NO GOD, NO PEACE- Some things you can start today to get back on track with the Lord Jesus: 1. Pray everyday! Pray in the morning. During the day. Every evening. At the very least, consider this. You are not only responsible for your children in the temporal, here and now sense. That is, health, financial, educational, etc. But, you will be responsible in the hereafter! Do you take the time to pray EVERYNIGHT with your children? (forget about the rest, till you get this one firm) Pray thanksgiving, praise, petition, love, and penance. If you have a hard time with some aspect of praying, try to pray about it. If at times you can only say, I can't. Try praying "I can't, help me!" 2. Return to the sacraments Go to confession. Be patient, but do so with a sense of urgency. If you have difficulty with a particular priest, spend time praying about it. Do not throw away yourself over any person. Try a different priest, but still pray for and about the one you have difficulty with. IF you have a difficulty with yourself, pray everyday for as long as it takes. Pray your penance, and go to mass still. Do not receive communion until you have been to confession, though. 3. Go to mass every Sunday, AND holy days! Go to daily mass as often as you can! 4. Pray the Rosary everyday! After the Mass it is the perfect method of prayer. Gather your family under the crucifix to pray the rosary. Another suggestion is to pray the Eucharistic Rosary while you bring up the chapel at The Chapel of Divine Love in Philadelphia, PA where you can participate in the online adoration of the Eucharist. This is helpful for evening prayer, when it is not possible to go out to our churches to have a physical visit with Jesus present in the Eucharist. This is a nice way to end the day with prayers by yourself or with the whole family joined together. Additionally, you can join the JOIN THE WORLDWIDE ROSARY CRUSADE! 5. Read the scriptures everyday. (The rosary is scriptural!) The New American Bible online. --and--Readings and Psalms for the Month 6. Sing! Though I hope no one else hears me, singing is my favorite form of prayer! Do you remember the old saying "He who sings, prays twice !" It is also very good for balancing your moods, and emotions! Can be very healing and uplifting! 7. Read/Learn the lives of the Saints 8. Hang a beautiful crucifix. As you accept the Lord Jesus as your personal savior, also, let Him in to your home and your life! Pray under your crucifix everyday! Adore Him, Praise Him, Ask Forgiveness from Him, Petition Him for your loved ones!! 9. Create prayer spaces in your home and your yard. We have an area in our main living area, where we join as a family to pray each day, and where I spend time after bedtime, alone with the Lord. Also, my son has a crucifix in his room, and pictures. He has what we call the prayer table. On this table, he keeps his religious articles that are special to him, and on the bottom, he has religious books. All toys, and other books are kept off of this "special space". It helps him to understand the sacredness of his faith, and serves as a reminder to keep it in his every day. As a general rule, we do not decorate with religious things, but we have spaces where these articles, pictures, and books are. Our spaces evolved out of our practice. However, creating spaces, can help evolve a more religous life. 10.Fasting! To learn more about fasting -please go to Medjugorje 11. Silence. There is a steady stream everyday, of: Music, TV, Computer, Phones, Talking, Planning, Doing...etc! Take the time each day for Silence and call it your "Holy Silence Time". Leave this time space for the Lord. Whether you feel something, or not, you can offer up this time to God. 12. Walk with Jesus. Think of Him and talk to him all through the day. How many steps does it take to walk to your office, the grocery store... How many extra prayers could fill those empty spaces. Praise & give thanks the Lord for the good you see all along these paths in life. Spark the Joy of life, and spread kindness around you. Decide for an honest life -- if more of us said no, gradually, the world could be reclaimed to Jesus. 13. Do not be afraid! Do not be afraid to step out of the flow of life around you. Faith is all about change. It is a stepping onto the road of a continuing life of Conversion. A change that leads you in a close relationship with Jesus, and your heavenly Father, with the Holy Spirit. It is an abandonment of your way, to the way the Lord has a desire for you. What do I mean by stepping out of the flow of life around you? Are you spending too much time partying with your friends, time in clubs, playing electronic games, etc. Anything you can walk away from and trade it in for something that is more valuable. Do something that is serving your neighbor and more pleasing to God. Soup kitchen, Adoration, this list is extensive, check in with your parish to find out what is needed. If you are sickly, then you can spend more time in prayer, or evangelizing. No matter how much we think we do, there is always some adjusting we can do as time goes on. 14. First Friday and First Saturday Devotions 15. Repentence: There are many who have divorced, many who have remarried. Tell the truth! Are you killing someones life by spreading lies or gossip? Do you or have you repented the causes of the divorce? Do you try to build up belief in your goodness, or do you spread about the truth we all are sinners and it is God's goodness that matters! Do you pray for the person you are blaming!!? God loves us all very much, and when you realize that then you will begin to cease to cause harm to other people by your tongues. Particularly, are you now remarried, teamed up to really sock it to the one you divorced. (they bad, me good attitude) What would happen if you converted so deeply that you would pray for your ex spouse, hold your tongue? Do you work unceasingly to keep the kids, grandkids to yourself? What would happen if you change your conversation from what so and so did so bad, to only what you did, or nothing and leave it at that. This is a common issue, today, though the reasons for repentance varies. Repentance is what makes you and God's relationship be healed, forgiven. What do you do if you are the victim of violence and bullying? Do not keep it a secret that you have been hit. Seek and accept outside help and protection. No matter how many years you have to live the results of leaving a bully, cheater, liar, keep praying, praying and praying. Pray for the conversion and salvation of that person. Do not keep it a secret and get to safety, but do not spend your life making jokes or comments or hate or gossip. Again, seek help and protection that you can, praying God to help to and to give you what you need to accept help. Then, Truly leave it in God's hands. Gossiping. Injuring others with violence, betrayal, stealing, cheating, lying, drinking, drugs,wearing clothes that make people who do not want to see you, see your body parts,yuck.... It all starts to be the norm, and the fact that sin needs to be converted and repented gets forgotten. Meanwhile, people who love you suffer much. What do you do? Put God first, then you will make choices that will be in line with what is good for you and the people around you. Feel too far gone? God is always bigger than you and your habits and problems, put your trust in Him everyday. Pray. Every fall is another opportunity for you to pray. Prayer: you can never completely avoid troubles, difficult people, or control other people. When you pray for someone, think about the spirit in which you pray. This again, puts the focus on you own personal conversion, and on God's love for the person you are praying for. God gives people free will to choose and to bring on consequences for their personal choices. God never forces anyone to choose good. Someone may spend their (or your whole life) doing what is evil and sinful. But, in the end YOU will have to decide if you want to be in Heaven or Hell by how you personally are going to choose to react to that person. We do have to forgive and pray for the salvation of that person. Period. There is not one person in Heaven who held a grudge. God's justice is not about someone getting punished because we don't want to forgive them. By the same token, there is not one person in Heaven who was not a sinner who was granted the grace needed to taken into heaven. Persons who are in Heaven are no longer sinners, they are not the same persons they were when they were here. A terribly condemned person can be saved, thereby changed, and be spared the eternal damnation of hell. You yourself can be changed, and can be saved. It requires that you have faith and trust in Jesus. It also, requires you to know Him, and what He wants for you to do. Catholic's believe in the truth He has given us in the Sacraments in the Church. It is our source of grace needed to be changed from tainted to Holy! -KNOW GOD, KNOW PEACE!- I do not know after all these years, where I learned this--but my favorite saying in life is this.... "The goal in life is to get to Heaven, and to take as many people with me as I can!" If you choose to, you can take a little step closer, and begin right now. Start with a little prayer, "Most Holy Spirit, through the Sorrowful and Immaculate Heart of Mary, make me thine instrument in spreading the reign of Jesus on Earth!"
