Our Puppies are registered AKC and reasonably priced, we only have a small number of special puppies each year.

Our goal is not just to breed miniature dachshunds, its the joy and love  dachshund gives to ones life we find irreplacable.

You will be a happier dog owner and healthier person for years to come owning a puppy from CMOHearn Dachshunds.

The health and happiness of our miniature dachshunds is a top priority with CMOHearn Dachshunds. All of our miniature dachshunds are socialized both with human contact and interaction with other dachshunds; thus developing personalities that your family will enjoy. The love a well adjusted dachshund gives is irreplaceable and will provide happiness and joy to you for years to come.

All of our miniature dachshunds are AKC registered and lovingly raised in our home – not in a kennel. We seek and apply the most current health and well-being information to each of our special miniature dachshunds. As such, you are assured of a healthy, well adjusted new addition to your family. Our puppies are vaccinated and wormed while in our care. We highly recommend a vaccination and worming schedule be continued through your local veterinarian.

Color and Coat Information on Chocolates, Blue and Reads

Chocolate: Chocolate is any color from red to dark chocolate. Chocolates must have tan markings to distinguish the chocolate from the red. Nose, nails and eye rims must be chocolate or liver with hazel/green eyes.  Chocolate cannot make black pigment since they lack the allele so they do not have any black on their body anywhere.   Chocolate is recessive to most all other colors.  In order to produce chocolate pups, both parents have to be either chocolate or be carriers of chocolate.  Chocolate cannot make black pigment. A chocolate will not have any black on their body anywhere. Chocolate is recessive to most all other colors.  In order to produce chocolate/tan pups, both parents have to be either chocolate/tan or be carriers of chocolate/tan.

Fawn (Isabella): Fawn is a blue/fawn color.  Noses, nails and eye rims must be liver. It is the dilute form of the Chocolate and appears like a washed-out chocolate.  These dogs carry the same recessive dilution alleles as the blue/tans.

Isabella/Tan is a blue/fawn color with tan markings. Nose, nails and eye rims must be liver. It is a dilute form of Chocolate/tan.  Tan markings are slightly affected and may appear washed-out.

Fawn/Cream:  The dilute form of the Chocolate.  The cream points are gained from inheriting the double recessive cch-alleles/cream points instead of tan.

Clear Fawn: Clear fawn is a dilute form of Chocolate. The Clear Fawn should have no tan or cream points. The Clear Fawn cannot make black pigment so they do not have any black on their body anywhere. It is a dilute form of the Chocolate and appears to be a washed-out chocolate.

Blue: Blue is any color from a light gray to a dark blue sometimes described as gunmetal color.  Blue must have gray/blue/slate noses, nails and eye rims.  It is genetically a black who inherits the double recessive "blue-dilution" that dilutes all dark colors on the entire body.  Absolutely no black is allowed on a blue dog.

Blue/Tan: Blue/tan is any color from a light gray to a dark blue with tan markings. Blues have gray/blue noses and they should have no black on them.  It is any color from a light gray to a dark blue sometimes described as gunmetal color with tan markings. Blues must have gray/blue noses, nails and eye rims.

Blue/Cream: Blue/Cream is any color from a light gray to a dark blue sometimes described as gunmetal color with cream markings. Blues must have gray/blue noses, nails and eye rims.

Red: (dominant) Dachshunds are a basic red or brown to a mahogany red to a light yellow in color. Reds do not have any tan markings. A small amount of white on chest is acceptable. Nose and nails must be black. Exception would be the wheaten and liver nose red better known as the dilute red). Any pattern is acceptable.

Clear Red: Clear red is a light red (often confused with Crème). They do not have any tan markings or a single black hair in their coat. Any white markings are undesirable. Nose and nails are black in color. Clear red is not an AKC recognized color but is referred to as a color by many breeders.  Any pattern is possible. A clear red is extremely difficult to distinguish from Cream. An accurate pedigree with knowledge in genetics is helpful. Clear Reds are genetically black dogs that have two e-recessive alleles.

Dilute Red: Dilute Red is not a recognized color but used by breeders to better clarify what they have. Dilute reds come from reds showing the recessive blue-dilution gene.  Blue-dilution will dilute all dark pigments (which turns black into steel blue.  Nose, nails, and eye rims will appear blue/slate/grey.  Its red coat will appear a red-yellow and "washed out." This is the same dilution found in Blue and Fawn. Red dachshunds that carry for tan points might appear to have tan points as a puppy but these tan points will disappear with age.

Our Deja is a Clear Fawn

We are in compliance with 2010 AKC standards.

   We are AKC compliant 2008

Our sires and dams have excellent conformation. They come from the finest breeders throughout the United States. Our superior quality miniature dachshunds come from both National Champion and International Champion blood lines. Ears are high on the head where they should be – not hanging from the eyes down and not excessively long (both common errors). The dilute colorations often have longer ears, but they should be placed high on the head for proper appearance. Backs are straight. Legs are short and straight and the tails are not too long.

2010 promises to be an exciting puppy year for us. Within our sires and dams, in addition to the chocolate coloration we now have two special dilute colorations – Isabella and the rare Fawn – both chocolate dilutes. Both longhair and shorthair coats should show up in our 2010 puppies.

We have only a limited number of special puppies available each year. Please bookmark our site and keep checking {Puppy Page One} for new arrivals.

To be placed on our waiting list, please email us at  CMOHearn@aol.com  Please provide specific information as to the puppy you would like to have in your family – coat color & pattern, long or shorthair, male or female. If you do not have a preference and simply wish to have a little bundle of joy to love (and be loved back) that’s OK!! We will be please to place your name on our Puppy List – and let you know when that special puppy arrives.

Our puppies are loved and socialized from their very first weeks of birth. Your puppy will ready to become a beloved part of your family at about 8 to 10 weeks old. We breed for health, intelligence, temperament, disposition and conformation.    All of our doxies are AKC registered.

We breed AKC longhaired and smoothhaired coats. Colorations we expect to see are: Chocolate and Tan, Isabella and Tan, Fawn, Chocolate and Tan Piebald, Isabella and Tan Piebald, and ??? Our Champion Dachshunds bloodline carries all of these beautiful colorations and patterns.

We prefer to ship with Alaska Airlines. They have temperature controlled compartments and take very good care of puppies. We ship our puppies to nearly any location with the continental United States. The cost of shipping varies by location. Please ask us for a projected shipping charge for your new puppy.

All of our puppies are vet checked and a Health Certificate is provided for air transportation. While each puppy varies slightly as to when he/she is ready for air travel, the time period generally falls between 9 to 10 weeks of age. As with you, our primary concern is for the safety and well-being of your puppy. If an extra week or two with mom makes for a healthier puppy, we ask for your patience – it will be well rewarded.

If you are searching for a special miniature dachshund puppy, raised in a loving home environment – you have come to the right place. All of our puppies gain balance and bravery by ‘running with the pack’ in our over-sized and fenced yard. Well adjusted and socialized with both humans and fellow dogs – our puppies are little bundles of love and joy, just waiting for their forever homes. If this sounds like what you are looking for – we would love to hear from you.

Potty Training

A number of people have told us they do not want a male puppy because they have heard that male puppies are too hard to potty train. This is not entirely true. A common myth is that female puppies are easier to potty train. Again, this is not entirely true. Here is how to make potty training relatively easy, and at the same time possibly avail yourself of the positive traits carried by male puppies…

The Purina Company has developed an easy and inexpensive solution for potty training puppies – both male and female. A plastic tray and small, hi-density paper pellets with odor control. When potty training puppies, most breeders use newspapers or potty pads – which work OK, until the puppies get a little older and start tearing up the newspapers and potty pads for recreational activity!

I use Second Nature dog litter, which is tough on odors. Purina has devoted 75 years in developing this product, that satisfies the needs of both breeders and individual dog owners. The litter pellets work better than pads or paper, have a moisture lock and do a better job with odor control. Your local pet store should have or can get Purina litter pellets if you ask them. (This is not a commercial for Purina litter pellets – just sharing with you, what works well for us). By the time your puppy is ready to leave our care for your home, the puppy will be well on his/her way to being potty trained to the Purina litter pellets…. It works!

                             NEWSFLASH

We don't willingly sell puppies to { Puppy Mill Owners }, most of our puppies we have sold in the past were sold to individuals who only wanted one of our puppies for there very own.  But once you have one dachshund sometimes it could lead to another, to love and enjoy.
