We are holding our annual meeting this Saturday, January 15th at 1pm at Ocean's East 2. We hope to see all current and prospective members there.
Bass-Jons is seeking new members for its upcoming 2011 Season. Come join one of the best fishing clubs in the area. Our Motto is "Share the Knowledge"! We have 15-16 regular tourneys throughout the year starting in March, and an end-of-year Classic in October.
We have a family plan that caters to husband/wife teams and parent/child teams. Don't have a boat? No problem. Our members consist of both boaters and non-boaters, with a random draw for pairings for each tournament. Whether you have a boat or want to fish as a co-angler, you will get the opportunity to fish with some of the best anglers in the area.
We also partner with another local club, Rule-9, to hold the area's only Club vs. Club tournament, the "Bass'n-9".
The annual membership cost is $25 per person and $5.00 per tourney fee.

*** Bass-Jons Winter Series Results - Lake Prince - 18 Dec 10 by Luther Showaker
Four teams came out to fish Saturday at Lake Prince to brave the cold. Highs were in the 40’s, and wind was pretty much non-existant. Water Temp hovered around 40 degrees. Jim Carlson and his partner Michael were the only team to bring fish to the scales. They had 3 fish for 6lbs 6oz, which were caught in the last thirty minutes of the tournament. Good job to Jim and Michael!
*** Western Branch Fishing Report by Jim Carlson
Walt Degraaf and I fished Western Branch today 12/08/2010. Air temperature was in the twenties and warmed up into the thirties. We had a water temperature in the mid 50s. We caught one catfish in 30 feet of water and a 4 pound bass in 15 feet of water on blade baits. I had to dip my rod tip into the water to remove the ice from the guides so I could cast. You know what they say, a day on the water is better than a day at home or work! (But some people would say we are nuts!!!!) Good Fishing! JimC.

*** James River Bridge Fishing Report by Mike Schneider
Got a chance to go striper fishing Friday night at the James River Bridge. It was slow for numbers of fish as I only managed to catch 4 fish and only 3 of those were keepers however my 3 keepers were 27”, 28” and 35”. The two I brought home weighed 10 LB – 5 OZ and 19 LBs even. Fish caught casting jigs along the light line.

Luther and Romel with some Lake Prince giants
With bluebird skys, a NNE wind @ 10-15 mph, and the short fishing day, it made it tough for any limits. 6 boats fished, mostly consisting of Bass-Jons members. In addition to the Bass-Jons members that fished, we also want to thank Bill J and Critten C for their participation. It was greatly appreciated. I also wanted to recognize Chris Griffin, thanks for your contribution, and all other members for their support. We were able to raise almost $300 for the scholarship fund for Luther's Mom! Most fish came on spinnerbaits, cranks, and senkos (or other stick baits). Thank you all today for your patience. Thank you all for participating.

*** Bass-Jons Winter Series - Nottoway River (Hercules) - 6 Nov 10 by Rick Burton
Bass-Jons kicked off their 2010-2011 Winter Series at the Nottoway River. 6 teams with 9 anglers came to fish out of the Hercules ramp. The weather was cool and in the 40's and low 50's for most of the day, with the river level dropping and current picking up throughout the day. Romel Soriano managed to find the better quality fish. Although he fell short of a limit, his four fish weighed in at 6 lbs 14 oz, which was good enough to beat the field. Romel also had big fish at 2 lbs 14 oz. Not far behind in second place was Luther Showaker at 6 lbs 6 oz, who came in with one of only two limits on the day, followed by Dan Griffin and Chris Griffin, who put together the other limit that included the only smallmouth bass of the tournament. Rick Burton and Brandon Franze managed to take home the prize for smallest fish. A good time was had by all, and we look forward to seeing more members at the next Winter Series event.

*** Bass-Jons Classic Results - Lake Smith - 16 Oct 10 by Mike Peregrine
1st - Moose Wells and Joey Wells
2nd - Luther Showaker
3rd - Victor and Aida Lopez
Big Fish - Mike Kane and Nancy Fox
Bass-Jons Group Photo
Bass-Jon’s Club Annual Classic turned out to be another good tournament. 16 boats with 29 anglers hit Lake Smith in Virginia Beach. The bluebird skies that followed the passing of a front and some strong winds made for difficult conditions (for some). The air temps stayed below 70 and the surface water temps were in the low-mid sixties. To no one’s surprise, Moose and Joey Wells bested the 29 man field with a 10 pound 5-fish limit. Seven other 5-fish limits were brought to the scales. The lunker of the day went to Mike Kane and Nancy Fox who weighed a nice 5lb 8oz “hawg”. Reports had fish taken on finesse worms, trick worms, jigs, Senkos and crank baits…you had to find them to catch them. Following the weigh in the club raffled over $200 in cash and prizes and paid out more than $1,400 in placement winnings. The club also presented Awards to Moose Wells, James Brown, and, Joey Wells, the Angler, Co-Angler and Junior Anglers of the year. Congratulations to all of them for their success during the year. Thanks to everyone who fished with Bass-Jons during 2010; we are looking forward to fishing with everyone in 2011.
