(1985-current)

ERNIE BALL acquired MUSIC MAN in 1984 before continuing production in 1985. As old stock Pre-EB Sting Ray bridges were used on early EB Sting Ray Basses, many have serial numbers prefixed with a "B". Examples exist up to 1988.

Pre-EB Sabre bridges were also used on early EB Sabre Basses. Consequently, some 1985 Sabres have serial numbers prefixed with a "C". These appear to be rare and limited to very early 1985. In the main, old stock Pre-EB Sting Ray bridges were also used on EB Sabres. Consequently, the "C" prefixed serial disappears and (as with with the EB Sting Ray) the serial becomes pre-fixed with a "B". Examples exist up to 1988.
