Why I Tune Pianos?
Because you can't Tuna Fish. :-) I tune "by ear" using Fourths & fifths" for the temperament checking it with contiguous thirds and triads. Octaves are then tuned using a combination of checks of 4ths and 5ths, 3rds and 6ths assuming different octave ratios. In addition, each piano gets a bit of a "stretch" on the low and high end to keep it as pleasant sounding as possible: -how much of this depends on the piano and size.

$80.00 within 30 mile round trip
$95.00 within 60 mile round trip
Over 60 miles round trip = $95.00 base + .50 cents per mile after 60 miles *$35.00 surcharge for more than one tuning on the same day if badly out of tune (below A440 pitch) **$75.00 per hour labor rate based on 1/4 hour for all additional repair work ***Tuning more than one piano in a given area will reduce the mileage surcharge by the number of pianos tuned (so tell your friends and sign them up!)
