The institution of marriage is of divine origin. Genesis 2:18-25.
"Let marriage be held in honor (esteemed worthy) precious, of great price, and expecially dear in all things. And thus let the marriage of your bed be undefiled (kept undishonored); for God will judge and punish the unchast (all guilty of sexual vice) and adulterous." Hebrews 13:4, 1 Corinthians 7:36b, 28a.
Because God recognizes what may be the end result of an unequally yoked marriage (see 1 Kings 11:1-6), God has placed specific restrictions on Christians concerning marriage. A believer may only marry "in the Lord" (that is, to one of the same faith: Genesis 24:37). 1 Corinthians 7:39 - 2 Corinthians 6:14.
Marriage is for life – a permanent union, a bond not to be broken.
"And the two shall become one flesh, so that they are no longer two, but one flesh. What therefore God has united (joined together), let not man separate or divide" (Mark 10:8-9).
If you marry, God said to "be fruitful and multiply." Genesis 1:26-28. Children are a blessing from the Lord. Psalms 127:3 - Psalms 128:3.
