Welcome to the 'BRITS ABROAD' Website, the award winning website (See 'About Brits Abroad') for British people who have emigrated abroad, who are working abroad or have retired abroad. We maintain a great respect for Britain, its heritage, and all it stands for in the world today. We are situated in Rosedale, British Columbia, on Canada's west coast.

TEN POUND POMS A review of the new book just published This well written and well researched book about the exodus of British migrants to Australia from the late 1940's to the mid 1980's is a must read for all Brits who emigrated to Australia, and a very good reference book for ALL Brits thinking of emigrating - to any country, not just Australia. POMS - PART TWO This follow-up to the above mentioned book is about what the book left out, and about my personal experiences in Australia. It's also a broader look at the 'Brit Abroad' and what lies ahead for new migrants. WRITE STUFF (from your e-mail and letters - updated weekly) Homesickness is only part of it. What about making a wrong choice - writes John Bradley from Australia. The bashing of Britain comes mainly from Brits - but why? An Aussie gives us his point of view about 'Poms.' As far as this world goes we Brits are looking pretty good, writes Sam from California. And many many more e-mails & letters. HOMESICKNESS It's okay to feel homesick. It's an occupational hazzard for us Brits when we go abroad as emigrants, or go abroad to work, so don't feel so damn guilty. Face up to it and realise home is home no matter where you are. BLOG LOG 'Donor Fatique' is a snappy new term but a very real problem for everyone. Islam, in the name of Turkey, wants in to the European Union, all 73 million of them. Got something you really have to get off your chest? Send it to us. Let's take a look.
