Testimony of the Week
GOD ON THE SCENE
I just wanted to share an experience with you all that I had and how God just moved and healed. I had to go to Atlanta on Monday because one my cousins had gotten so sick that they didn't know if she was going to make it or not and came back home to Savannah on yesterday. She had Meningitis and the only thing that would get rid of her pain and headache was a drug that was injected into an IV that went straight to the blood and it is an addictive drug. She was becoming dependent on that drug. I had an experience like I have never had before. This is what happened (while we were in Atlanta): My Mom came to me early on Wednesday morning and said Anita we need to get to the hospital, because we need you to pray for Charlotte (my cousin). I got up and I began to read the Bible for a while and then I went down on my knee's to pray. As I was getting dress I continued to pray, while driving to the hospital I was still praying and asking God to reveal anything that I needed to know to me. God began to show me what was going to happen after I pray for her. When we got there to her room we asked her how she was doing and then my Mom told her that I was going to pray for her and immediately tears began to fall from her eyes. I told her that I can pray for her but she will have to have the faith to believe and she said OK. I got the oil and I anointed her head and her hands. I then started praying for her and God then had me to call out some things that were in her. (And to be honest I didn't want to, but God said you prayed for boldness and now is the time.) I began calling those things out and she started crying even more and harder. I prayed what seems like forever, but when I was done praying exactly what God said would happened did happened, (she had a small seizure that lasted about 15 sec. she began to spit and God said that is all that stuff that is in her that needs to come out. She did that for about half an hour and immediately all of her pain was gone.) I told her and her Mom and my Mom and her ex-husband who was there, that I knew that was going to happen because God had already showed it to me and that is why I didn't get in an uproar. The next day her ex told her two sisters and his family what has happened and he told them and my Mom that he was scared of me and didn't know what to do sort of speak. I told him don't be scared of me and he said it's not that I am scared he said I admire you and you have a gift that a lot of young people I see and know wish they had. He said in away that he is going to change and become a better person and learn to love himself. I just thank God that someone was able to change through all of that. I don't take credit because it wasn't me it was only and all of God. God was just using me as his vessel and working through me.

PRAISE GOD FOR THE CLOSED DOORS
We need to learn to praise the Lord as much for a closed door as we do an open door. The reason God closes doors is because He has not prepared anything over there for us. If he didn't close the wrong door we would never find the right door.
God directs our path through the closing and opening of doors. One door closes, it forces you to change your course. Another door closes, it forces you to change your course again. Then finally you find the open door and you walk right into your blessing.
The Lord directs our paths through the opening and closing of doors, but instead of praising him for the closed door (which keeps us out of trouble) we get upset because we "judge by the appearances". You have an ever present help in the time of need who is always standing guard. Because He walks ahead of you, He can spot trouble down the road and set up a road block or detour accordingly. But through our lack of wisdom, we try to tear down the roadblocks or push aside the detour sign. Then the minute we get into trouble we start crying "Lord how could You have done this to me?". We have got to realize that the closed door can be a blessing. Didn't He say that "No good thing will He withhold from them that love Him?"
If you get terminated from your job - praise God for the new opportunities that will manifest themselves - it might be another job, it might be school.
If that man or woman won't return your call - it might not be them, it might be the Lord setting up a roadblock. (JUST LET IT GO)
There was a couple who banked with the same bank for many years. They asked the bank for a loan of ten thousand dollars. The bank turned them down. The Lord put in their spirits to call another bank. That bank loaned them forty thousand dollars at a lower interest rate than the first bank was offering.
We can sometimes trap ourselves in doubt and discouragement through judging by appearances. I'm so grateful, my friends, for the many times Our Father has closed doors to me just to open them in the most unexpected places. The Lord won't always say in spoken words: "Go to the left, now to the right"... Sometimes He will just close the wrong doors.
"Thy word is a lamp unto my feet, and a light unto my path." Psalm 119:105)
"The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, and He delights in his way." (Psalm 37:23)
The Mountain top is glorious, but it is in the Valley that I will grow! "For the Lord is good; His mercy is everlasting; and His truth endureth to all generations." (Psalms 100:5)
May the Lord add a blessing to the receiving of his written word.

"JESUS HELP ME" - The Faith of Todd Beamer
"I don't think we're going to get out of this thing. I'm going to have to go out on faith."
It was the voice of Todd Beamer, the passenger -- and Wheaton College graduate -- who said "Let's roll" as he led the charge against the terrorists who had hijacked United Flight 93, the one, you will remember, that crashed in the Pennsylvania countryside.
The whole world knows how brave Beamer and his fellow passengers were on September 11. But this week we learned more fully what buttressed that bravery: Faith in Jesus Christ. Todd died as he lived, a faithful evangelical believer.
In an article titled "The Real Story of Flight 93," Newsweek reveals gripping new details from the actual transcripts of the now-recovered cockpit voice recorder. "Todd had been afraid," Newsweek relates. "More than once, he cried out for his Savior."
After passengers were herded to the back of the jet, Beamer called the GTE Customer Center in Oakbrook, Illinois. He told supervisor Lisa Jefferson about the hijacking. The passengers were planning to jump the terrorists, he said. And then he asked her to pray with him.
As Newsweek relates, "Beamer kept a Lord's Prayer bookmark in his Tom Clancy novel, but he didn't need any prompting. He began to recite the ancient litany, and Jefferson joined him: Our Father which art in heaven, Hallowed be thy name."
As they finished, Beamer added, "Jesus, help me." And then, Beamer and his fellow passengers prayed a prayer that has comforted millions down through the centuries -- the prayer that David wrote in a time of great anguish: The Lord is my shepherd, I shall not want . . . Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil.
And then the famous last words: "Are you guys ready? Let's roll."
We now know from the cockpit voice recorder that Beamer and other passengers wrestled with the hijackers and forced the plane to crash into the ground, killing themselves but foiling what was believed to have been the hijackers' plan to fly Flight 93 into the Capitol or the White House.
As Christians, we know that God can bring good out of evil. In Todd Beamer, the world witnesses a faith that held up in the extremity of fear. A faith that is even now comforting his widow and two young sons.
Lisa Beamer told NBC's Dateline, "You know, in the Lord's Prayer, it asks us to forgive our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." As Todd prayed this prayer in the last moments of his life, in a way, Lisa said, "He was forgiving those people for what they were doing, the most horrible thing you could ever do to someone."
It wasn't Todd Beamer's job to fight terrorists. He was just a passenger who along with several others did what he didn't have to do but foiled a terrible evil that might have been done to his country.
As Flight 93 hurtled towards destruction, Todd Beamer could not have known that his quiet prayers would ultimately be heard by millions -- that the story of his last acts on earth would be a witness to the Lord he loved and served and a lasting example of true heroism.

What I Learned from Noah's Ark
Everything I need to know about life, I learned from Noah's Ark... One: Don't miss the boat. Two: Remember that we are all in the same boat. Three: Plan ahead. It wasn't raining when Noah built the Ark. Four: Stay fit. When you're 600 years old, someone may ask you to do something really big. Five: Don't listen to critics; just get on with the job that needs to be done. Six: Build your future on high ground. Seven: For safety's sake, travel in pairs. Eight: Speed isn't always an advantage. The snails were on board with the cheetahs. Nine: When you're stressed, float a while. Ten: Remember, the Ark was built by amateurs; the Titanic by professionals. Eleven: No matter the storm, when you are with God, there's always a rainbow waiting.

STOP WAITING TO BE HAPPY
We convince ourselves that life will be better after we get married, have a baby, then another. Then we are frustrated that the kids aren't old enough and we'll be more content when they are.
After that, we're frustrated that we have teenagers to deal with. We will certainly be happy when they are out of that stage. We tell ourselves that our life will be complete when our spouse gets his or her act together, when we get a nicer car, are we able to go on a nice vacation, or when we retire.
The truth is, there's no better time to be happy than right now. If not now, when? Your life will always be filled with challenges. It's best to admit this to yourself and decide to be happy anyway. Happiness is the way.
So, treasure every moment that you have and treasure it more because you shared it with someone special, special enough to spend your time with...and remember that time waits for no one.
So, stop waiting.... --until your car or home is paid off--until you get a new car or home--until your kids leave the house--until you go back to school --until you finish school--until you lose 10 lbs.--until you gain 10 lbs.--until you get married--until you get a divorce--until you have kids--until you retire--until summer--until spring--until winter --until fall--until you die
There is no better time than right now to be happy. Happiness is a journey, not a destination. So -- work like you don't need money, Love like you've never been hurt, and dance like no one's watching.

Where Was God?
As I, like most other Americans and people world-wide, was watching and listening to the horror that took place on the East Coast, I heard many people ask the question posed in the subject line. I was reminded of an interview with a Holocaust survivor that was asked the same question. Her response inspired the following words; Where was God in all of this?
God was in the rescue workers who were running into the buildings as most people were running out. God was in the flight attendant who called her husband as her plane was being hijacked to tell him that she loved him. God was in the two men who carried a wheelchair-bound woman down 70 flights of stairs to safety. God was in the people who stood bleeding, in line to give blood. God was in the strangers in cars, picking up strangers stranded in the city and taking them home to their families. God is in the people who are begging to volunteer, to do anything to help. God is in the thousands, if not millions who are flooding blood banks thousands of miles away to help people they have never met. God is in the people who are comforting someone even when they don't know what to say. God is in the people who watched and cried for people who may remain anonymous in name, but never in their sacrifice. God is in my neighborhood where I see flags waving from every home. God is in the men and women, looking at 110 stories of rubble, and seeing only the opportunity to find survivors. God is with the heroes, most of whom will never be on the news, whose stories will only be told to their closest friends and family; but who saved someone's mother, father, sister, brother, daughter, son, husband, wife, grandmother, grandfather, aunt, uncle, cousin, lover, colleague, acquaintance, teacher, mentor or friend with a single act of kindness, compassion and bravery.
God was not in the hearts of the people that caused these inhumane events. However, God was indeed there where he was needed the most. I know where my God was the morning of September 11, 2001! He was very busy.
He was trying to discourage anyone from taking the involved flights. Those four flights together held over 1000 passengers and there were only 266 aboard.
He was encouraging the pilots of a fifth plane to delay their flight for mechanical reasons.
He was on 4 commercial flights giving terrified passengers the ability to stay calm. Not one of the family members who was called by a loved one on one of the high-jacked planes said that passengers were screaming in the background.
On one of the flights He was giving strength to passengers to try to overtake the hijackers.
He was busy trying to create obstacles for employees at the World Trade Center(WTC). After all only around 20,000 were at the towers when the first jet hit. Since the buildings hold over 50,000 workers, this was a miracle in itself. How many of the people who were employed at the WTC told the media that they were late for work or they had traffic delays.
He was holding up 2-110 story buildings so that 2/3 of the workers could get out. I was so amazed that the tops of the towers didn't topple when the jets impacted. Although this is without a doubt the worst thing I have witnessed in my life, I can see God's miracles in every bit of it.
I can't imagine going through such a difficult time and not believing in God. Life would be hopeless without Him.

TRUST GOD IN YOUR GIVING
Of late the Lord has been dealing with me about facing fear and rebuking it. A couple of months ago, He also led me to change the fashion in which I tithe--to actually get on my knees before Him either before I leave home with it or to actually go to the altar with my tithes prior to services, kneel and worship--confessing the Word (based on Deuteronomy 26, but also including Malachi 3, Romans 11:16 with references to the Blood of Jesus). I refuse to just plunk it into the basket. Since I've been doing that, it has never failed that each week I come into some type of funds, which I then can use to worship in the tithe.
So recently both of my houses have needed repairs and various, sundry expenses popped up--like car repairs (and the car is tripping again), all of which dipped into my savings. The property taxes have become due on my houses. I chose to rebuke fear--in fact, ignore it--and trust God.
Today [with a MAJOR bill due on Monday] the firm gave out the Christmas bonuses--well before they normally do! It MORE THAN covers my bill, including money to worship in the tithe!
