SCOUT RIP

SCOUT RIP

Scout was the puppy we couldn't sell due to a breathing imparment she was born with. She sounded like a snoring bull dog. She was born to a litter of 2 in April of 2010.
We sold and delivered her brother to Bakersfield on a hot June day. We were also going to be in Los Angeles for a couple of days so we took Scout with us. That was the real begining of a wonderful relationship we ended up having with her. She quickly turned into our traveling companion. Scout was so good about riding in the car and staying in motels we hardly left her home.
When we did leave her we had her stay with our good friends Valorie and Bill. They loved her just as much as we did and nick named her Snorkel.
Scout spent lots of time lying in bed with Mark durring his recoveries from surgeries. Just keeping him company, it can get so lonley lying in bed by yourself. She was great fun to rassel with as well  Scout was always gentle with a soft mouth while playing.
It was a shame loosing her at only a year and a half old. She is servived by a beautiful litter of pups she had way too young as well. She raised her pups next to Marks bed. She really wanted to keep them in Marks bed but we did have to draw the line on that one.
Scout was killed by the Pit Bull that lives next door. It was on Wednsday Oct. 5th. Mark and I had gotten home from Los Angeles after a follow up on Marks toe surgery. It was a long day and the dogs had been locked up in their kennel so after feeding everyone we cut the dogs loose to do some running in the yard. The only dog we didn't turn loose was Lucy because she has a tendincy to run off and taking the pack with her. Lucy is Scouts mother and quite a scraper. I believe if she would have been loose with the other dogs Scout would still be with us. Lucy had some run- ins with that dog on several occassions. We would have at least heard the dogs fighting. As it was I believe the Pit had Scout before she knew it, pulling her head through the fence and choking her to death.
We had kept a pup from her litter and he kept barking that evening. I couldn't figure it out so I put him up to quiet him.
Mark and I kept going to the door and calling Scout with no response. She always comes when she is called.
I would hear the neighbors dog bark but when I went outside she would stop. I was getting really anoyed that Scout wasn't coming and that the dog next door wouldn't shut up. Mark talked me into taking the flash light outside and look for Scout once again. That is when I saw the neighbors pit was not in her kennel. I said to her what are you doing loose? And that's when I found Scout hanging on the fence.
She was our best friend and loyal companion.
Well now God has a new best friend.
She will be missed by all.
We love you Scout.
