? Why does my computer prompt indicate that I have the proper Windows Media Player but the pop-up file download appears instead of the desired player?

A. A. The Windows Media Player is generally associated with the Microsoft browsers IE. If you downloaded or already had installed the media player before the browser that you are now using, such as Netscape, you will find that you will probably need to reinstall the player in order for it to appear and function properly.

? I get a prompt that there is a security hazard present. Do I have to worry?

A. A. No. This is simply because the computer or machine program does not make any sense out of what it is being directed to do. This is usually caused by inability to properly disseminate active-x information.

B. B. The proper download from Windows should correct the problem and take care of the annoying and heretofore worry some prompt. It is also wise to make sure that JAVA is enabled...

? The audio sounds very or slightly rough. Not clear and transparent what is wrong?

A. A. You could be experiencing a problem with the driver scripts. This usually comes from file sharing problems generated by trial shareware and other so called compatible audio programs that introduce foreign gadgetry into the program such as limiter and other features foreign to your sound card and driver set up for the Windows media.

B. B. Standard un-install procedures are not enough to remove the offensive scripting so therefore, a good remedy in some cases is a cleanup program such as Windows Cleaner. This one works well and produces superior results in getting rid of clutter and file remnants.

C. C. You might also resort to re-setting the drivers program from disk.

D. D. Some manufacturers provide a disk for this purpose. This should produce the desired results.

E. E. If the audio is still distorted or fuzzy then it may be that you need new or improved hardware. Usually a soundcard upgrade should fix the problem. It is important to remember in cyberspace that scripts are just scripts, sound is only as good as the hardware! And of course for real purists a standard Hi Fidelity Stereo Amplifier and quality speaker system is beneficial for full enjoyment.

F. F. There is one other point that sometimes is overlooked and that is the fact that your memory might be over tasked. It is a good idea to always clean out surf junk and remember that your video can affect your audio! How is that possible you ask? The fact is higher screen resolutions take more memory to accomplish. This higher resolution can be to the detriment of your audio. Try reducing screen resolution and see if there is not a marked improvement in sound quality. Sometimes with a memory that is already stressed this simple operation can improve the sound by an overwhelming degree.

? At other sites I just log in or click and the music begins to play. Why do I need a player?

A. A. The fact is you do have a player. Technically speaking, you have a player if you have a sound card and computer. All that you need to do is to tell the computer what to do with these components.

B. B. We prefer to allow the player to appear so that you will have full advantage of the program.

C. C. Visual content and information, Titles etc. Plus special effects. There is also the advantage of equalizing for personal taste. It simply is technically better for mouse-over tweaking and for the aesthetic value.

Also you may have a fire- wall problem and if that is the case you will find that the Windows format is best for penetrating.

If you experience problems with breakup in streaming audio even at the slower rates such as 20kbs then you should consider checking your modem for an upgrade or you should check your phone connections in your computer service. Make sure all connections are tight and clean! New wiring is never a bad idea. You can improve your connection speed by looking to these often-overlooked problem areas.
