Skinning a Tube This is a little trick that to my surprise, not many people know about. With some tubes (Venom seems to work the best) you can actually peel a layer of the tube off. What this does then, it makes a thinner tube that gets down better and it has a smaller profile. When the fish get finicky, sometimes this little tip can help you catch a few more fish. Steps: 1. Where the tentacles meet the tube body, you will see a line (where the arrow is pointing). 2. Gently, try to pry this ridge. 3. Continue peeling the tube until the entire "molt" is removed. 4. Size comparison before and after. Notice that the color is a shade lighter as well. This is due from pulling on the plastic. What you end up with is very similar to a BPS tender tube. |
